Computing
Our Curriculum Intent
At St Peter’s Methodist Primary School, we seek for our children to become digitally literate, becoming masters of technology. We aim to model and educate our children on how to use technology positively, responsibly and safely. Our broad curriculum that encompasses computer science, information technology and digital literacy enables our children to access a wide range of tools and software, preparing them for life beyond primary education. Technology will undoubtedly play a pivotal part in students’ lives and our curriculum focuses on preparing children to use devices appropriately and effectively to complete tasks. This includes developing the skill of ‘debugging'; so children actively develop their Growth Mindset to problem solve.
Progression in Computing
We are now using the Purple Mash Scheme of Work for Computing at St Peter's. We use the lessons built within Purple Mash and adapt these to meet the needs of our children.

Assessment
Computing is assessed bi-termly in Terms 1, 3 & 5. The Purple Mash assessment tracker is used by class teachers to cross-examine children's attainment against the term's learning objectives. This data is then inputted into the school's tracking system, Sonar. This is to identify pupils who are making an age-related expected standard, and those who are working behind and may require additional support within the classroom.
